The Centre for South Asian Critical Humanities and Bharathi Kala Manram are delighted to invite you to an enthralling concert with soaring performances led by violin maestro V.V. Subrahmanyan, easily regarded as one of the best violinists in Carnatic music. We welcome you to a musical journey with a globally renowned ensemble of Carnatic artists.

A legendary figure in Indian classical music, Naadha Yogi Professor V.V. Subrahmanyam is a renowned violin maestro, revered for his captivating performances and contributions to the world of Carnatic music. His consuming passion for music is intertwined with his exploration of religious beliefs and spirituality. VVS, as he is fondly known, is known for his warmth and simplicity; he has always preferred to let his violin do the talking. He has performed in venues worldwide both, as a soloist and as an accompanist to an array of legendary musicians. A  prolific author who has written six books, during his illustrious career spanning over seven decades, Subrahmanyam has also dedicated himself to the welfare of classical musicians.

Carrying forward the revered legacy of his father, legendary musician VV Subrahmanyam, VVS Murari has emerged as a distinctive, thoughtful, and emotive musician in his own right. As a cultural ambassador of India's rich heritage, Murari has captivated audiences worldwide with his extensive performances in prestigious
venues across India and abroad, earning critical acclaim and numerous accolades. A multifaceted artist, Murari is also an entrepreneur, educator, and philanthropist dedicated to nurturing young talent.

A globally acclaimed percussion virtuoso, scholar, and composer, Dr. Trichy Sankaran is a legendary figure in Indian classical music. Dr. Sankaran's remarkable contributions have earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the Sangita Kalanidhi (2012) from the Music Academy of Madras, making him the first recipient in the Pudhukkottai tradition. As the founding director of Indian music studies at York University, he has bridged Eastern and Western pedagogical styles, inspiring generations of musicians.

KV Gopalakrishnan, KVG, has collaborated with legendary music directors Ilayaraja and Vidyasagar, showcasing his adaptability in various musical settings. A renowned Kanjira and Mridangam artist, KVG's initial training was under his father KVRS Mani, and he currently studies under Mridangam Maestro "Sangitha Kalanidhi" Dr. TK Murthy. Honored by the Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt as their "Asthana Vidwan", KVG has established himself as a leading percussionist of his generation.

Banu is a devoted disciple of violin Maestro Shri. VVS. Murari, whose passion for music was rekindled eight years ago. Since then, she has tirelessly pursued her musical aspirations, culminating in her successful arangetram in November 2022. Following this milestone, Banu has ascended the stages of prestigious events, including the Chennai December Music Festival and Tiruvaiyaru Aradhana.
